In the photography world, there are so many firsts that we encounter. Most people tend to think about the obvious first… your first kiss as a married couple. However, there are so many more! These are the most special moments, and I get a front seat every single time! How lucky am I???
Let’s start with the obvious one that I mentioned above, the first kiss. While this first is obvious, it is memorable. It is the first thing a couple gets to do the moment they become one. It is always photographed. People often cheer, and clap for this moment – as they should! They did the dang thing!! I love photographing the first kiss because it symbolizes so much more than a kiss – a new beginning.
First hold – this is probably one of my favorite things to photograph. Babies are my love language! that first time you get to hold your baby, kiss your baby, or smile at your baby is something that lingers in your head for the rest of your life! Who would not want a picture of that?! I love photographing the first hold because it symbolizes so much more than a hold – a new beginning.
Now this next one is a semi new thing – a first touch. Most times this happens on a wedding day. When the couple does not want to do a first look, most do a first touch. It is usually a time when couples exchange words of affirmation or vows or poems. It is a special moment where the couple can just be still in each others presence before the hustle of the day begins. I love photographing the first touch because it symbolizes so much more than a touch – a new beginning.
Lastly, the first year is something that is so exciting, yet so quick. In the blink of an eye, your beautiful newborn baby is now 1! 365 days around the sun, and now you need updated pictures. Milestones are a big deal! Especially that first year. It shows the journey of a new mother, a veteran mother, and the biggest bundle of joy! First years are almost just as fun as newborn sessions! I love photographing the first year because it symbolizes so much more than a first year – a new beginning.
You see, the firsts are so much more than firsts. They are yes. They are exciting. They are scary. However, they are oh so rewarding. Never stop saying yes. And when you do say yes, make sure you document every single second. It will be worth it.
