It’s spring wedding season, so there’s no better time to reflect back on some gorgeous spring weddings I’ve had the honor of photographing in the last few years. Spring is such a special time. The season is a time of renewal and full bloom. The perfect time to start a new chapter in your love story.
Spring…those first few days of sunlight, the flowers peeking up in yards, buds on the trees, and birds chirping…it is life-giving after a cold, gray winter. There is a light, airy quality to spring weddings that makes them so fresh and hopeful for the good times ahead.
Flowers are one of the first things you think of when you think of spring, so wedding florists are going to be one of your best friends when planning a spring wedding. I know florists can’t have a favorite season, but this has to be it, right? They have so many beautiful in-season blooms to work with.
Here are just a few examples of flowers that are perfect for your spring wedding:
peonies, roses, tulips, calla lilies, hydrangeas, sweet pea, and ranunculus, daffodils, hyacinths, lilacs, freesias, cherry blossoms, anemones, forsythia, lily of the valley, muscari, snapdragon, stock, viburnum, wisteria and poppy
The quickest way to see an example of what all these blooms look like, in case you aren’t a flower person, is to hop on over to this article by The Knot! Ranunculus and daffodils are some of my personal favorites!
You can go big and bold with your bouquet, but it is the perfect time of year to show off a delicate, sweet and simple vibe. Also, don’t hold back on the greenery and grasses.
One thing to consider, spring flowers tend to be very fragrant and it is the time of year when people’s allergies are at an all time high, so if you have anyone in your wedding party with a sensitivity to fragrances or an allergy to pollen and other grasses consult with them. Either plan around it or be prepared with allergy meds of choice on the big day.
After the flowers, it’s obviously the color palettes that can distinctly set your spring wedding apart. Bring on soft and dreamy pastels and muted tones. It’s not just about the bridesmaid and maid of honor gowns, the lighter and brighter palette carries over to the groomsmen attire as well. Love those pops of color!
The natural lighting at this time of year is abundant and your photographer has a lot to work with. Your entire wedding party will look incredible.
You’ll see delicate floral details incorporated more into spring wedding gowns. What is more light, airy, and delicate than lace? You will also see more A-line dresses, empire waists, boho and off the shoulder styles. Gowns are classic, simple, and elegant. No trends here, we are talking timeless bridal looks.
Choosing your venue should always be one of your top decisions. As a wedding photographer, the venue impacts every single one of the photographs that I deliver in your final wedding gallery.
Spring weddings are generally warm enough to get a lot of outdoor time, and maybe even an outdoor ceremony. Venues that have a romantic or storybook feel are very popular. Spring is a fantastic time for a whimsical, almost fairytale setting. A traditional church wedding is gorgeous with light streaming through the windows, and trees budding out in the courtyard.
I couldn’t narrow down what I wanted to share from my spring wedding season galleries, so here are a few more photos I love, just because!
Oh, hey, it’s me! I really do love being a part of your big day.
One of my other Spring weddings was extensively profiled in the blog Maddy + Josh by Something White Bridal Boutique. Maddy, the bride, has a day-of coordination background, so the wedding was planned with so much wedding experience in mind. This is a don’t miss!
If you are a spring 2025 or spring 2026 bride and you’d like to talk about your wedding photography experience, you can always schedule a chat with me by filling out my contact form. I want to hear about all the details. I love the details.
