You’re engaged! It’s the perfect time to grab some shots of you as a couple – just the two of you – before life gets complicated and feels like just one big wedding countdown. Also, it’s the perfect time to give your wedding photographer the opportunity to get to know you and show off a bit. Whether you are going for traditional engagement photos, or you are looking to take some unique engagement photos, this blog is meant to showcase some engagement photo poses that you can put your own spin on.
He. Put. A. Ring. On. It.
Of course your love story isn’t all about the ring…but come on. You know everyone wants to see it, so go ahead and give the people what they want. Here are some engagement photo poses that show off your sparkly new conversation starter!
Is there anything sweeter?
You’d have a hard time selling me on the idea that anything beats the sweetness of a forehead kiss. It says “I adore you, I treasure you, I’ll protect you!”
Capture the time you enjoy together
Whatever it is that you like to do together, find an engagement photo pose that celebrates it. As you get older, your obligations get bigger, and your family grows – you might miss how easy it was to sneak away and do…well…whatever you want. Like fly fishing or dressing up for cocktails. Make sure you get some photos that capture this simpler time when it was just about you two and some fun. It will inspire future date nights!
Hand in Hand
First, we’ll find a path, a road, a field, a creek, or a street. You’ll grab each other’s hand and take a walk. It’s simple but it creates great movement and contrast and since it’s something you do everyday…you’ll feel comfortable and we’ll get genuine moments.
The Dance
It’s not just the best Garth Brooks’ song…it’s a great engagement photo pose. Now some couples love to dance and they are totally at ease with this prompt. Others are…less comfortable. A good photographer will understand your comfort level. I promise you, any couple can master a simple twirl! You’ll love the result, so just trust the process.
Eye Contact
It’s all about you! Take some time to look right into the eyes of the one you love. You’ve found your person and that isn’t something to take for granted. You will not want to miss getting this must-have engagement photo pose in your gallery.
These are just a few of the engagement photo poses that I like to try with my couples. The truth is, each couple is different and although I have a list in my head for each engagement photo session, I’m inspired by each couple to try new things that reflect their personalities. Not to mention how the setting might impact our time together.
Make a list of your must-have engagement photo poses. Find examples of photos you love and show your photographer. Make sure your photographer will listen and understand what you are looking for, but be open minded to the spontaneity and creativity that will happen the day of your engagement photo session.
