As a mother of 2, soon to be 3, I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to capture sweet little ones. I love babies, all the babies, can’t get enough of the babies.
I have done many sessions with the cutest newborns, so I have curated a list of tips that I find most helpful with trying to take pictures of your precious little one.
Tip #1 – Most of my newborn sessions are done inside the clients home, and I love to utilize the space. With that being said, make the space your own. I love to see each families personality. It is also fun to look back on years later to see what style you had when the baby was born.
Tip #2 – Bump up the temperature by at least 3-4 degrees than normal. This helps keep your baby nice and toasty while also being relaxed and sleepy, which makes for the most precious photos.
Tip #3 – You should feed your little one 1 hour before the session starts. You do not want a fussy baby for pictures!
Tip #4 – Keep your space tidy. This will make the photos look clean and put together. Declutter the space for the session.
Tip #5 – I like to focus on the details of the new baby and interaction with the parents. So, pick 1 – 2 outfits and roll on from there. Pick outfits out for you and your spouse and possibly the fur babies if you want! Let your style shine through!
Babies are special, and I hope this helps as you embark on your new role: MOTHERHOOD!
