20 THINGS ABOUT ME

What is my favorite color? Lavender – I love the color, scent, and flower.  It was actually one of my wedding colors!

Who is my favorite artist? Why? Right now, NF. I listen to a wide range of music from the Hamilton soundtrack to Thomas Rhett and throwbacks. It’s all based on my mood I”m in is what I listen to!

What is my favorite sport? Parenting 100%… because have YOU ever tried putting two toddlers in a car?? But my mainstream answer would be college basketball or football. I really only watch sports for the snacks though.

If I were a cupcake, what kind would I be? I would be a white cupcake with raspberry whipped cream icing.  I really don’t like heavy icing or anything too sweet.

If I could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? One food for the rest of my life is a tough one… because I’m a major foodie.  I guess my final answer would be tacos… specifically Birria or Al Pastor tacos from Cesar’s Old Mexico  in Springfield.

Where do I like to spend my free time? I like to spend my free time with my husband and children!  I love going on adventures with them, impromptu trips to Culver’s or Ha Ha Tonka, snuggling on the couch with a movie and just making memories with them.

If I could go back & get a different degree, what would it be? I think I would stick with Business Administration or Accounting with a minor fine arts or graphic design.  I focused so much on my accounting classes that I didn’t spend a whole lot of time creating and regret that.

If I had a superpower, what would it be? I would want to be able to time travel and relive moments with my kiddos.  When they were born, their last nursing session, etc. And just soak that moment in because they are so fleeting. Part of the reason I believe photography is so important, it’s not just a picture, it’s a snapshot of that moment of your life. Photography allows you to “time travel” by reminiscing on those images and emotions.

What is something we do not know about you? Something you may not know about me is I hate lettuce. With a passion.  I think it’s a waste of energy to eat. I don’t like it on tacos, burgers, salads, none of it.

What is my go-to sonic drink order? Either a raspberry lemon water or vanilla dr. pepper!

How many pillows do I sleep with? I typically sleep with half a pillow at night because my two year old hogs them! He sleeps with us and snuggles me all night long.

What is my spirit animal? So I took several tests to find *my true spirit animal*.. The first one came back as a pelican… and I don’t think I’m a giant bird that carries water in their mouth and then the second was a donkey… so to avoid making an a$$ out of myself I chose for myself: My spirit animal is a Mama Bear because I scavenge my pantry for food daily and I will rip your eyeballs out if you mess with my cubs. Also hibernation sounds like a dream. Eat all the food. Take a big nap. Wake up when it’s warmer. Yes. yes. Yes.

If I could choose my enneagram, which would I choose? I would be a 7.  I love my enneagram 2 and always try to rebel against my 3 wing so I think being carefree and fun loving sounds great! But I don’t want to be as loud as a lot of 7’s I know so like I chill 7.  Doesn’t need a plan. That cool gal 7. So essentially a 7w6.

What is my favorite thing about my career? My favorite thing about my photography career is the relationships I make. I truly considered my clients friends.  I love getting to know them and their families and documenting their milestone moments in life. I’m also excited to dive into the education side in 2021.. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement about that!

What makes me laugh the most? My husband and my kids make me laugh a whole lot. Daniel always finds the funniest videos on instagram and we love laughing about how crazy our kids are. 

What is my biggest pet peeve? When people steal my pens. I only buy Pilot G2 07 pens (in bulk from Sam’s Club… obviously) and I NOTICE WHEN ONE IS MISSING.  Feel triggered by this?? Probably because you’ve stolen one of my pens before. So please bring it back.

Which season is my favorite? My favorite season is summer

What is my serial killer trait? I like cutting things up.  Like mushrooms, carrots, potatoes.  I think it’s therapeutic to slice them and I always compliment what veggies and fruits slice nicer than others…

Do I have a secret talent? I’m always typing people when meeting/or talking to them.  Then I will accidentally say something along the lines of “Wow such a 8 today Karen” and people are like “Uh what?”

What is my most memorable photo shoot experience? My most memorable photoshoot was from one of my first Christmas tree mini sessions, with one of my now dear friends Tori. She brought an ornament and a picture of her son Caden to include him in their family pictures. Their son passed away from a congenital heart defect and now Joy for Caden is my favorite charity that we donate to each month. My son, Truman, was born with two holes in his heart so that session just hit differently. And I earn a lifelong friendship with Tori out of it.  She will always be a part of my girl village.
