I can truly say this is not something that I ever dreamed I would be writing about in my blog. However, times are crazy and here we are. This is not something that is brought up in Photography101, so we are just rolling with the punches.
Life as a photographer amidst a pandemic looks like a ton of flexibility. It is about pulling out the planner and rescheduling. It looks like consoling a bride who is crushed about her wedding not happening on her set date. It is about finding a new date for said bride to get all giddy about all over again. It is about making the little things fall into place even when the big things are not.
Life as a photographer amidst a pandemic looks like more time. I have taken this time to really pour into my education on photography. As you have heard me say, I love learning. Photography is a never ending cycle of learning something new, thus I have taken this time to really amp up my skill level for my customers. I love each and every one of you, and I want to make sure you are getting the best possible pictures.
Life as a photographer amidst a pandemic looks like me trying to fill a void. Since I am not taking pictures of my clients, I take pictures of my boys. Casually. In our living room. It works. My boys are my world, and I know I will cherish these pictures I’ve taken for years to come.
Life as a photographer amidst a pandemic looks like sadness. I miss my customers. I miss their lives that I get to capture. I miss getting to know them on a personal level. I am not just their photographer, I am their friend.
Life as a photographer amidst a pandemic isn’t glamorous. It is hard. It is gut wrenching. However, it is much needed to just be able to slow down for a few seconds. I am so excited to get back to normal and see all of my wonderful clients.
